Sports Funding

Sports Funding

At Heart of the Forest Community Special School, we are committed to providing high quality PE opportunities for all of our pupils to improve their health and well – being. We believe that having a varied and innovative programme of activities has a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic performance of our pupils.

It fosters teamwork and understanding of rules and a competitive spirit. The Government have provided Primary School Sports funding since September 2013 to enable us to continue and expand our provision through having a dedicated PE leader to develop PE opportunities across the school. We are also employing additional sports professionals and entering into more competitive competitions through involvement in the school Games. We are developing staff confidence and competence to deliver high quality PE teaching and learning.

This grant is jointly but not equally funded by the Department for Education, the Department of Health and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.  It is ring fenced to ensure that it must be spent on the provision of PE and sport activities in schools.

We are required to publish information regarding our use of this funding. The reports summarises the use of the funding and its impact year on year.  The most current report outlines how the funding has been allocated in the academic year 2018-19 and planned expenditure for 2019-20 and can be viewed here.  For the academic Year 2018-19 we were allocated £16,340 and expect to receive £16,400 for 2019-20.
