Post 16 Provision
The focus of our curriculum is on skills for life including independent living, work-related learning and enterprise, communication, personal skills and social skills, improving own learning and functional use of literacy and numeracy. All students are encouraged to make choices about elements of their learning and to persevere and commit to the choices made. The Post 16 provision is available to students from the September after their 16th birthday until July of their19th year. At any point, students may leave to access alternative provision.
The class groups are of mixed ability, though students meet in ability groups for functional skills teaching and groups are combined to broaden their experience and access to the curriculum. Students follow a vocational qualification in Life and Living Skills awarded by OCR at Entry 1 to Entry 3 levels. This is recognised within the Qualifications and Credit Framework (NQF) and students gain credits through completing units and provide evidence to demonstrate skills development.
They work on a range of units that have been designed to develop skills in self-care, independence and everyday living. Students are encouraged to be as independent as possible in all aspects of the curriculum.
