Learning at Heart of the Forest
At Heart of the Forest Community Special School we do not put a lid on pupil learning. We believe our pupils deserve every learning opportunity to reach their true potential. Our mission is to engage, enrich and inspire learners through our carefully designed curriculum and personal development provision. We adopt a pupil centred approach to learning. As such, every decision we make places the pupils’ success and wellbeing at the heart of what we do. To achieve this the organisation of classes is by learning need and key stage. All pupils follow one of three pathways. Pathway teaching has been designed to reflect these learning needs.

Pathway 1 provides opportunities to engage learners through an immersive, interactive and sensory approach.
Pathway 2 provides opportunities by developing structures and routines to give learners a sense of control over their environment.
Pathway 3 provides opportunities for pupils to link, practice and embed the skills and knowledge to know more and be able to do more.
