Medication at School

We only administer medicines in school if absolutely necessary, and if parents give their permission in writing to do so.

All medicines to be administered in school must be clearly labelled with the child’s name, securely packaged with clear instructions about the time and dosage.

  • They must be handed to the Transport Escort, and not placed in the child’s bag.
  • Any medication being transferred between settings via the school (e.g. home to Collies) must be a handed into school in the same way.

Parents/guardians are asked to complete a medical information form, each year, and to inform the school in writing of any changes in medication.

Appropriately trained staff administer emergency medication if necessary.

A supply of relevant medication should be kept in school.
