Merlin Class
Merlin class is part of the Further Education Department (FE) and are a group of 9 students (Year 10 – 14) who work on a pathway 1 and 2 curriculum. This includes a sensory based curriculum and working towards developing independence and life skills in preparation for their transition into adulthood. We take part in a range of learning activities covering a broad spectrum of subject areas during which students apply their understanding and skills in a functional way. Students have meaningful opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge in preparation for their transition to further education, world of work or for living in the wider community.
Our students work across differentiated curriculum pathways, each with a personalised learning plan linked to their individual EHCP outcomes. Alongside this, students work towards accredited learning through the completion of either the ASDAN ‘Towards Independence’, ASDAN ‘Transition challenge’ or OCR Life & Living skills accreditation.
We follow a 3 year rolling programme within which, key skills are acquired and embedded.
